As bloomberg reporting, Nokia weighs to sale HERE. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-04-10/nokia-said-to-weigh-sale-of-maps-business-to-focus-on-networks

Maybe it isn't a good news for native jolla navigation based on HERE.

Update 2015-06-18Bloomberg reports that Nokia is leaning toward selling HERE to German carmakers (Daimler, Audi, BMW). Later they reports, that Nokia may still decide not to sell its maps business, as CEO Rajeev Suri told. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-06-17/nokia-said-to-prefer-german-carmakers-as-buyer-for-maps-business

Impossible to say whether it's bad news at this point. Might even turn out to be good news depending on who possibly buys Here and with what kind of terms.

Nokia has said that they're concentrating on getting HERE in cars – mobile platforms are not in focus. (At least Helsingin Sanomat wrote yesterday: "Last spring Nokia decided that from now on HERE will concentrate on clients in car industry", and they wrote earlier that HERE boss Michael Halbherr quit because Rajeev Suri wants to concentrate only on business clients.)

They did just release a new iOS app though...

Well, could be bad or could be good... :)

An american buyer would be bad news.

@vattuvarg I think the same. Uber would be an american buyer. In case of german carmakers, I can´t imagine that they would offer free mobile apps in future. But, who knows...

Meanwhile the very same CEO has just now confirmed to the German publication Manager Magazin the rumors that they are looking to get back into mobile business and are looking for cooperation partners. The ban for them using Nokia brand for mobiles expires in mid-2016. Apparently they will be designing and licensing the manufacturing to a third party.

Assuming it's not going to be Windows this time, does anyone know anyone who makes a decent mobile OS?

I believe there's a small group of crazy rebels sailing somewhere on the Gulf of Finland. Some whisper they have a decent OS on board. However, this still needs to be confirmed.

And the same CEO tells one day after the Bloomberg report that he DON´T prefer German carmakers. He also said anyone who can make the job better in the long term, is a good buyer...

Oh, right Anna... those guys.

Would make a too beautiful narrative, really, with the dinghy floating a-back silently, around the same time when the drilling chief who took off from the burning platform in a black helicopter with all the company paperwork, and his box of matches, has been aptly getting his reward.
