Recently Whatsapp calls stopped working. It's in «connecting» and no calls. I thought that the problem with Whatsapp, but the version is the latest - 2.16.357. Sailfish OS build is 2.0.4.14. Intex Aqua Fish

Weird, for me on 2.0.4.14 video/audio calls worked without any problem... Only after update it stopped and show "connecting".

Just wondering if someone here found a solution for this. No issue with the Whatsapp messages. But Whatsapp and Skype calls stopped working when connected to mobile internet. Calls works fine on both apps if the device is connected through Wifi. My device is Aquafish running on 2.0.5.6.

Thanks in advance

UPDATE

Got this issue fixed for now. If someone is looking for a solution, this is what I did. Hopefully the fix will work for you too. *You should have root access before issuing these commands . So run *devel-su and type in your password.

  • Uninstalled aliendalvik from the Sailfish terminal using the command ' pkcon remove aliendalvik '. (Varoius threads here advise to uninstall the Android Support from the Jolla Store. But in Aquafish, this app is not listed in the store for some reason).
  • Rebooted the device
  • From the Sailfish terminal, installed the aliendalvik by issuing the command 'pkcon install aliendalvik' . (I have seen some posts here to do this installation with your WIFI off and Mobile data ON. I installed it while my phone was connected to the WIFI network).
  • Rebooted the device and voila - all working , whatsapp, skype calls etc all connected with Mobile N/W (3G & 4G).

If I bump in to issues related to this, will update you here. Hope this helps.

pkcon remove aliendalvik && pkcon install aliendalvik with mobile data on, wifi off worked for me. Skype and Whatsapp video calls now work again (running 2.1.0.11).

However, this is not a perfect solution. I lost all my whatsapp & skype chat logs and had to re-register to both of them.

reupdated what? aliendalvik ?

Ok, by reinstalling aliendalvik, it not really helped... I also reinstalled many different packages that related to droid/sound/pulseaudio and also installed this packages:
qt5-qtmultimedia-plugin-mediaservice-gstaudiodecoder a52dec faad2 libdca libvpx After lipstick restart, at least for now it work ok and without this terrible noise :)

I jumped back to 2.0.4.14 & then reupdated to 2.0.5.6 via terminal.

Ok, I have another problem now. The video call is working, but other side can't hear me, it's only terrible noise, but I can hear other side without any problem. Can someone confirm ?
Now tested with skype and got the same result. On previous version all worked like it should...

Thanks, but it's not really the same problem... You post about camera, I don't have this problems...
But anyway, I tried to reinstall all gstreamer packages, but it didn't change nothing. The other side still can't hear me.
