Mobile network gets lost and is not restored

Since the last update to 2.1.1.26 on my Jolla 1 the phone loses mobile connection once in a while and will not regain this until I do a reboot/restart. In the corresponding menu Mobile Network in the sub-menu Chose Network Automatically the scan for proper networks does not find any and stays in an endless loop :-(

I have the same problem with 2.1.1.26; almost every morning when I arrive the office by car. That means, I am unreachable via phone until I notice the situation and restart my phone- this is not acceptable. Any app may stop working due to whatever reason, but not the basic phone functionality.

It seems that, at least in my case, there's a relation between this one and the BT connectivity problems, e.g. this and similar bugs.

The subject BT triggered something: on some occurrence I switch off BT on my Jolla, and then the connection does not get lost during the following night(s).

Maybe there is a relation between ?! Nevertheless I do not have BT problems with my Car-front-end (a Garmin navigation unit in particular) .

I've experienced similar behavior on rare occasions. Sometimes the connection gets restored by switching airplane mode on and off, but mostly I have to reboot. By 'connection' I mean 3G or 4G, WLAN and Bluetooth seem to be working (but haven't actually tested them in these cases).

This problem (connection loss) seems to be solved in 2.1.2.3. I didn't face the issue in ~1 week although BT has been ON all the time and active in the car.

Should fix this without a reboot. Sadly the permanent lost of the mobile-connection seems a longstanding bug since ~ 2.x. See here.

Fun fact, happens with my iPhoneSE (seldom) too. The nice part is, that switching AirPlane OFF/ON fix this more easily, the bad part is that the iPhone just doens't tell you anything about the lost connection (you have to use Safari or Siri). "Think different" :D

Shouldn't the 'restart network connection ' in the tools do the same thing? If yes in my case this doesn't help - only a reboot does ...

@Thomas MIGLINCI: Does "Mobile connection" in this context (in your case) mean the connection to Internet using mobile data, or does it mean the overall GSM connection between the phone and the GSM network, so that also voice calls and SMS are blocked (in addition to the Internet access)?
--Did your phone work correctly with 2.1.0.11 (or which OS version did you have before 2.1.1.26)?

connection lost in my case means: no GSM-connection --> no voice, no SMS, no data. WLAN does work.

I still hope Jolla wil fix this. Nevertheless, could we do a workaround to this with the Situations app from Jolla store? Something like

Condition: "flight mode is off" AND "mobile network available" AND "mobile network not connected" Then: "turn flight mode on and off" (to reconnect).

In case fligh on/off doesn't help, the ofono restart could be triggered somehow.

I don't know if Situations has the functions needed for that. Any ideas?

In the meanwhile I have installed all versions up to 2.1.4.14 but the problem persists :-( Flight mode Off/On does not help either.

What I noticed is that the network name of my provider shows up two or three times in network search including different strings ("3 AT" vs. "3-AT")...

That's an interesting add-on, as this is the behavior I and others get with the Xperia X in roaming, see here.

So the Xperia roaming issue seems to be connected to the Jolla1/C issue of lost connection in the national network. (By the way, my Jolla 1 also has that, so I can compare it well).

To add one more thing: My Xperia also has the failed reconnecting issue in the home network, but it restores the connection with flight mode on/off.

@Thomas MIGLINCI i have the same issue on the Intex Aquafish in 2.1.0.11 and tested in 2.1.1.26 with difficulties during handoffs when first connecting to WIFI with mobile data on, then leaving the range of the WIFI signal it simply doesn't like to connect to mobile data. What i found works best:
1. install utilities from jolla store;
2. every time you leave a wifi network or turn wifi off you basically run Utilities from settings function "Restart network subsystem....." which i believe is the same as ofono restart, but at least you don't have to use the terminal;

Now it should be connected.

I have similar problems too on my Jolla1. I found, that the risk of loosing network is much higher, when Mobile Data is activated. With it being disabled, I have nearly no network outage. (of course, disabling Mobile Data cannot be the solution in real life.) And I found, that most network lost (with Mobile Data activated) happen, when I'm moving, for example driving in car. So the switching from one cell to another cell seems to cause the breakage.

On the Xperia X reverting to Android and reflashing Sailfish solved the issue of "not reconnecting after network loss" for me without doubt. For that you need to Install the Sony Open Devices Flash Tool (EMMA) on a Windows PC. The procedure takes 1-2 hours. If you've done this before rather 20min (depending on the internet connection, it's a 2.5GB file download).

Important: Follow Jolla's advice of using the phone a little on Android (make a call, surf, text a bit) before reflashing SF.

I know this might not help the Jolla1 users but maybe the X users reading this.

Wow that sounds interesting. No Whatsapp installed here on either Xperia or Jolla1, problem still persists.
