Same here. The setting in regard to the whatsapp and sailfish OS version is the same. It appears to be limited to whatsapp, as telegram is not affected by this issue; pictures can be saved without any difficulty.

A similar problem affects Wire too: https://together.jolla.com/question/167234/android-messenger-wire-no-pictures/ In my hands, all media on Wire are affected, not just pictures. I have no idea if the underlying cause is the same, though.

Me too, unable to download pictures and documents with Whatsapp. The download of videos works well.

Hi all,

I am having the same problem again with: Whatsapp 2.19.58 from Aptoide running on Sailfish 3.0.1.11

Does anybody has the same thing? And a whatsapp version that works ok? I can't seem to find a correct one. Thanks!

Same here. I'm on Sony XA2, Sailfish 3.0.2.8 and Whatsapp 2.19.119. Is there a new solution for this or should I go for the old binary as recommended below?

I solved the Problem with the application from the Whatsapp Homepage. The Version is lower: 2.17.422 Now all downloads work again.

I will confirm this: 2.17.422 is latest as Whatsapp HP says and it works again. (I've got 2.17.425 from jolla.store.aptoide.com)

Same issue here with OS: 2.1.3.7 and Whatsapp 2.17.425 from Aptoide Appstore. Via Aptoide it is also possible to downgrade. Look up application in 'top' section. Version 2.17.422 works for now. Be aware: This uninstalls Whatsapp first and then installs, causing 3 weeks of messages lost (last backup) and new SMS-verification.
