A Finnish mobile news site wrote that they've got some information from Jolla that Sailfish 3 will be announced, sounds exciting!

Here's the original article: Jolla julkistamassa Sailfish 3:n ja uusia laitteita helmikuun lopulla

And Google Translated content:

Finnish Jolla has announced that they will be organizing an announcement on Monday 26 February at the Mobile World Congress. Sounds nice, but not very likely. During last mer meeting Jolla said that there will be fix for something in next update which will be 2.1.4. It's far from 2.1.4 to 3.0.

Usually such major upgrades are developed in a separate branch and probably the 3.x could be in a early alpha

I am sorry but I don't care about the version number, usability and functionalities are more important.

Anyway this doesn't really fit to the last Jolla blog. But if it is true I hope it brings us positive news and the things I mentioned above .

@potski the latest blog post was related to SFOSX and XPeria iirc?

I was wondering if there is a list with devices which will support SF3 with the alien dalvik, meaning android apps are supported.

And also: jolla has stated that SF3 will be supported on the sony xperia xa2. But do i have to buy SF3 or will there be a sailfish X version based on SF3 for the xa2?

Sailfish X is a confusing product name, imho.

If you already own a Sailfish OS device you will get version 3 as a normal update. The official port for XA2 will probably start with version 3.

Jolla states on their Blogpost:

"At the same time with the Sailfish 3 early access release we’ll also start to offer Sailfish X for certain Sony Xperia XA2 devices".

In the comment section of this blogpost Juhani (probably Juhani Lassila from Jolla) states:

"Sailfish OS is continuously developed in single master code branch from which we release new versions time-to-time, like now the upcoming Sailfish 3. Those versions are called releases, and carry corresponding release numbering. The name of the operating system is Sailfish OS, whereas Sailfish X is a commercially productized and packaged downloadable version of Sailfish OS for which we sell end user licenses."

That should answer your second question.

Thank you for your responds. They made alot clear for me. Just one last question: how do i know which devices will support android apps while using SF3?
