Hello together,

will intex relesase the sailfhish 3 update from the aquafish?

I read that some people do womething with "the aquafish should act like the Jolla-C".

Is it enough to wait for the update, or should i do something? What is the risk?

Greets

I was in touch with Jolla support today (16th Nov) and when asking about a new releases to Aqua Fish, they replied they have not get approval from Intex to release new updates to Aqua Fish (what ever version that might be). Big question is, will they never get.

I got a similar reply about the lack of communication with Intex when I contacted Jolla earlier.

i have contacted intex months ago, got reply "Intex Aqua Fish is a discontinued model. No software upgrade is available for the handset.", seems there never will be an update.

Sad that cooperation of Intex an Jolla seems to have ended. Wasn't that successful, I suppose ...

Thats very sad.

Thanks for your work. My own solution was the answer from addydon with an manual update. (See the other answer).

Converting an Aqua Fish to Jolla C may have its own advantages (pre-release software), but it is not necessary at all for having the latest Sailfish OS release. All you need to do is update from the terminal using the following commands.

devel-su
ssu re 3.0.0.8
version --dup

I am updating my Intex using this method from last 3-4 releases, and never found an issue with the phone in daily usage.

This works for me too, however the jolla store won't start any more.

According to https://together.jolla.com/question/204796/did-anyone-manage-to-update-an-intex-aqua-fish-or-jolla-c-to-release-3038/

It seems that it's not possible to upgrade Intex Aqua Fish past 3.0.1.11 OS release without converting the phone to Jolla C.

hello thoys, as far as I know Intex stopped updating for aquafish, so waiting might be a waste of time. If you want sailfish 3 you should follow the steps in this thread:

link text

Your phone will act as a jolla C and get all the updates, including SF3.

As for the risk, I think a minimum is involved. However I did it when I had an AF and everything went fine (and I am not a tech-savy person at all).

Yes and works fine.

arcsibo ( 2019-08-15 09:28:35 +0300 )edit

All functions which were working fine in sfos 2.x? Radio FM, Voip voice calls, camera, bluetooth, mobile data, etc.?

Hei togehter,

i reopened this post, because sometimes this:

devel-su
ssu re 3.0.0.8
version --dup

worked but sometimes not (i know, that i have to fill in the right number).

I had 3.0.1.11 on my phone (it updated after a faktory reset - back to 2....). Now its possible to update to 3.0.0.11 but not higher. If i try to install 3.0.1.11 or 3.1.0.11 (newest), it gives me this output:

REFRESHING AND DOWNLOADING PACKAGES
Refreshing: 100%
Error: This request will break your system!
Finisehd transaction (status=2, runtime=7530ms)
UPGRADE NOT COMPLETE Retry 1 of 9
Waiting 1 second before retry

And after this, it starts again.

What can i do?

Thanks a lot

Hei together,

i made it with devel-su, ssu re 3.0.0.8, version --dup.

It worked good. (One little thing: Set Update Sailfish Manager on manual. Becaus in my case i always get the update Message to a lower version from the update manager)

Thanks a lot to all of you!

tl:dr; set 'ssu re' to latest and update os as stated, it need to be recognised by 'pkcon' so perform 'refresh and update', after the above, the inbuilt download manger shouldn't report lower version as upgrade but if it's still showing, perform 'cleanup by killing store-client etc', if still, notification persists, delete notifications.db, set update checking to manual and reboot.

Elaborated procedure from below links: 1. https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005795474-Installing-an-OS-update-fails-download-worked- #Check Cleanup 2. https://together.jolla.com/question/193207/update-from-3005-to-3008/ #Check Answer 3. https://together.jolla.com/question/193330/bug3008-package-update-via-pkcon-broken/ #Alternate to 2nd link 4. https://together.jolla.com/question/112217/persistent-update-notification/ #Check comment in answer
