Did anyone got Messenger notifications actually working?

As I see on this wiki post, Messenger Lite is said to be fully working, and Messenger to be partially working with some minor issues, not a single word on notifications.
On my Xperia XA2 Plus (dual sim) I do have notifications from both these apps, but with only a slight vibration, barely noticeable when holding the phone in your hand, let alone when it's in your pocket.
Another thing is, to get any notifications the app needs to be open or minimized on the home screen. If it's closed, no notifications arrive, despite the background processes are running (checked with htop).
Did anyone got the notifications fully working, with proper vibration level and this annoying "ding!" sound Messenger makes on Android?
(I do have Messenger Lite selected in Android Apps Notifications, but this enables only the "silent" notifications, that work also for regular Messenger)
Same on my side. Xperia XA2 Ultra 3.0.3.9, small vibration barely noticeable, screen turns on when notifications arrive. Nothin more than that, no sound or LED flashing for Android notifications. As far as I've read, we're to keep on waiting on an update for this bug. Hopefully next big update fixes this.
