This article talks about that "You will soon be able turn your Android device into a Sailfish device"

Jolla pioneered the ability to use existing Android hardware adaptations with the libhybris project and the first Jolla device is built upon an Android hardware adaptation (but is not Android, just uses the hardware adaptation)

What devices would you like to see SailfishOS on - what chipset, how much RAM, how big internal storage, what resolution and screen size, cores and speed? .. and why?

If a device exists already as an answer, vote it up!

Acer Iconia A1! I don't like Android so would love to use Sailfish in that too! :)

Droid 5, if leaks are true it should be very comparable to current Jolla (S4 dualcore, 1Gb RAM, 16Gb internal) but better screen 720p and HWKB

Should the title read 'Android-based devices'?

I see a lot of demand in the Answer section for Jolla (or nemo) Tablet. But before that happens, you must support landscape first. Please make it happen ;-)

I think this would be a nice improvement for the main Jolla website: allowing people to sign-up with their e-mail and current phone model they would wish to have Sailfish OS on. They could then be announced when Sailfish is available for their phone. I have friends who are interested in this.

The Utilite family of computers from Compulab already have two OS alternatives, Android and Ubuntu. There are two things that I like about the hardware. The Utilites can be powered directly by a car battery without additional hardware. And there are lots of ports on the tiny machines (HDMI, USB, etc). Running Sailfish would be easier on the hardware (than both Android and Ubuntu) and would thus save energy without sacrificing performance. A Utilite with some added USB-connected hardware (like a solar panel controller) would be perfect for off-griders. Sailfish would allow the machines (even the cheapest one at $99) to be used as tablets or full desktops depending on the needs of the user. Well engineered hardware with single, double or quad Cortex-A9 cores along with an operating system without bloat should supply enduring computer power, even in unlike places. So...

I want Sailfish on the Utilite.

Compulab has released the Utilite 2 with a snapdragon 600 SoC. Would be a good prototype machine for the jollaDesk concept.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" P3100 (GSM/Wifi), just to mention it does not come with additional buttons like other sammy androids, it has a power button and a volume rocker.

I love to have Sailfish on Sony Xperia Acro S. I'm still keeping that phone with hopes.

Panasonic Toughpad (Tablet) with Sailfish OS installed (normally an Android device). An alternative for hard professional use or extreme conditions. Could be then considered "unbreakable Sailfish device". Not sure if it's military grade protected device, but will for sure handle much more rough use than any ordinary consumer tablet. A bit expensive device for sure, but totally worth it.

agreed. i have a g3t which i got for under £100. very capable hardware. there are loads of mtk6589 devices around which are cheap and good build quality. a prime candidate.
