This article talks about that "You will soon be able turn your Android device into a Sailfish device"

Jolla pioneered the ability to use existing Android hardware adaptations with the libhybris project and the first Jolla device is built upon an Android hardware adaptation (but is not Android, just uses the hardware adaptation)

What devices would you like to see SailfishOS on - what chipset, how much RAM, how big internal storage, what resolution and screen size, cores and speed? .. and why?

If a device exists already as an answer, vote it up!

Acer Iconia A1! I don't like Android so would love to use Sailfish in that too! :)

Droid 5, if leaks are true it should be very comparable to current Jolla (S4 dualcore, 1Gb RAM, 16Gb internal) but better screen 720p and HWKB

Should the title read 'Android-based devices'?

I see a lot of demand in the Answer section for Jolla (or nemo) Tablet. But before that happens, you must support landscape first. Please make it happen ;-)

I think this would be a nice improvement for the main Jolla website: allowing people to sign-up with their e-mail and current phone model they would wish to have Sailfish OS on. They could then be announced when Sailfish is available for their phone. I have friends who are interested in this.

Thinkpad Tablet 1838, a 10"-tablet with Wacom digitizer. It's a nice device, but no longer supported by Lenovo.

I think you would be happy with a Jolla J3 (if it ever becomes reality).

You didnt exactly limit the answer to android devices only, so... not android device, but I thought i'd throw it in because the question was posed that way (aka. this is my wishful thinking favorite):

Nokia 700

It's a small device (512MB ram (ugh but i think doable to run in that) and internal storage too small, would need to use microSD for rootfs) and not android thus drivers would be hard to get etc, but the reasons why i like it:

  • AMOLED screen
  • physically small device, truly usable with one hand
  • USB OTG (okay on symbian, would be amazing on linux)
  • a few more physical buttons than the jolla phone (imo it doesnt feel like a phone if it doesnt have an answer and end call buttons)
  • sailfish&android apps would greatly extend the usability
  • (the selfish reason: i have one)

The entire mainstream Samsung Galaxy S series, from the original to the S5, excluding the mini's and other variations.

Why exclude the minis?

I would nominate Cirec Bracelet projector. It's also a new project, but it would be a big hit to smart wearable devices market if we combine Sailfish OS with this unique smart bracelet. Just my opinion :)

The old Toshiba AC100 (now discontinued, yet still running Lubuntu quite successfully). Or ASUS Transformer. Or the modern Samsung Chromebook, Chromebook 2, up to the top 13.3" model. Saying shortly, an ARM-based full-flavour netbook, with normal keyboard and touchpad.

This is for folks who do not stupidly consume content from the Net but do generate something themselves - e.g., read bulky e-mails and type detailed, equally bulky, answers. Also for network and other engineers who might ise it in the field to configure various hardware.

Intel-based netbooks, based on the newest power-efficient CPUs, are also to be considered, once they will be available. CPU itself is not a fetish, 10 hours battery time is a must.

Archos G9 tablets - just because they do have a handy Developer Mode for installing alternative software and a good background in doing this. There was even a Plasma Active based project, in nearly the official status, by Basyscom... (In no way I am a fan of PA, yet some underlying things like QT are the same, and part of work seems to be done.)
