I am using the WhatsApp from android store. However the phone/App hangs when I turn on the real time notification.
Is there a possibility that WhatsApp is officially available on the Jolla store ?

Unfortunately Whatsapp won't officially support SailfishOS anytime in the forseeable future. Also Nokia N9 never got an official client despite numerous votes at online petitions. Even Windows Phone and Blackberry had to fight to get WhatsApp when they established their new platforms. This is a big problem of such close-sourced, centralized software and we shouldn't use them - yet they're so popular that it is difficult to ignore them. *
So official WhatsApp for Jolla? No. Possibly Jolla can and will improve the Android application layer and how it handles notifications (but I have no idea what's even possible in that regard).
But there is good news: There are 2 native SailfishOS apps called Mitakuuluu and WhatsUp which is are 100% usable WhatsApp clients. **
IMPORTANT: Be careful when using Warehouse and be aware of the issues it can cause - and if not, I don't recommend to use it. Make sure you follow instructions and if necessary delete apps / disable repositories which could harm your next Sailfish OS upgrade!
*Telegram is very similar to WhatsApp, offers a public API and thus allows 3rd party clients. Unfortunately there is no mature SailfishOS client available yet: https://together.jolla.com/question/23838/app-request-client-for-telegram/
*WhatsApp doesn't like it when you use unofficial 3rd party apps and could block you (many users were blocked in the past!). Be aware of that risk when using above mentioned apps.*

In my experience this one works nicely too.
After being blocked for quite some time (by this WA hypocrites) for using Mitakuuluu (due to the lack of an official native app provided by the later mentioned hypocrites) I started to use Cepi's conversion of his great N9 app. And I felt in love with it again ;-) Great work!

There is also a new Mitakuuluu Version available. The original one was stopped and removed from Openrepos since there was a protocol change from WhatsApp which was leading to get many Jolla users blocked.
The new one doesn't seem to have this Problems.
So, you can now even choose between two native WhatsApp clients! Thats 100% more than on Android Phones :-P

I used in the meantime WhatsApp with the original Android client and it's was really annoying me. Now with Whatsup/Mitakuuluu I deleted the android client (with a huge grin in my face) and just use the native apps. More than one month constantly connected all the time available an sending/receiving messages and no problem what so ever.
The new clients uses the same protocol like the original client uses for Nokia S40 Platform phones, as far as I understood. So it should be fine for us.
Some things like calling through the app for free are not supported and maybe never will but I absolutely don't care for it even. Sending videos, pictures, voice messages, and text, group chats and integration of contacts work all perfectly or even better (contact integration is done when YOU say it, not when the app decides its time to copy all your contacts to the server).
It's funny but I think the native apps are better and more user friendly than the original app ever was.

I don't think so... At least not until there are much more sold Sailfish OS devices. Why don't you try Mitakuuluu (openrepos.net)?
