When the screen of Jolla C is off, it sometimes keeps making a ticking sound with irregular intervals. Sample

It doesn't bother too much, expect maybe when trying to sleep and the phone is in the same room.

I'm guessing it is a hardware problem, and if so, I'm posting this so that Jolla may inform Intex about the possible speaker problems (assuming the similarity of hardware).

For me it seems, the sound comes from the upper area near the camera. I thought it could be from the cooling down of the device after usage (i.e. the heatsink or something).

I don't have that problem so far. Interesting.

@Acce - which SailfishOS version is your Jolla C running?, just curious!

To stop the clicking noise just kill the mm-qcamera-daemon (it will restart automatically but the camera should only start clicking again after you use it)

To kill the daemon just issue this command as root (with sudo or devel-su):

killall mm-qcamera-daemon

Everything seems to work without problems after this and I did not get any clicking noise (until I start an app using the camera of-course)

Update:

Sadly this does not really solve the issue every time... I still sometimes get clicking noises after killing the daemon and other users, too...

Nice, thanks for the hint @blublub

Thanks, I will give it a try next time.

I've tried kill mm-qcamera-daemon by kill -9 PID and it didn't help. Still clicking noise :(

One solution for me, which helps all the time, is restart AquaFish.

Would it be possible to put this command in a shellscript or simlar and make it user executable by suid or sgid?

Bug occured after enabling WiFi and then put it in Standby. Disabling WiFi solved the Problem. 2.0.2.48 SW.

Edit: Replicability: WiFi on, use Camera in Whatsapp, standby » Ticking, turn WiFi off » no ticking (when WiFi on again » still no ticking)

I rarely use camera, but when using whatsapp I get that strange, ticking strong pop sound, which is quite loud, and it occurs often.

I've Noticed the pop occurs using android apps and not just whats app.

yet have not noticed on the timing and on what behavior the Pop occurs

Google Play installed from Openrepos, OpenGApps Pico Installer. Device Intex Aqua Fish. 2.0.2.51 Now updated to 2.0.4.13

Same here. Looks like this happens mostly when Android apps are open.

This has been improved in 2.0.5.X - Haapajoki, not completely fixed though.

as far as the camera-focus-ticking goes, there is no improvement for me, the ticks get even more frequent after having used the camera..

I really hope Jolla will find a fix for this soon, as it's quite annoying (workarounds don't help for me, I have to reboot the phone to get back to normal)

seiichiro0185 ( 2016-11-25 12:17:06 +0300 )edit

it appears to have been eliminated for me, but like i said its not completely fixed but they are working on the problem

Not improved for me aswell. Still the same as before. After using the camera app the ticking begins and won't stop until rebooted.

I can confirm same bug on Intex Aqua Fish 2.0.2.45. It has been starting after turning on WIFI and developer mode. Any news, if it'll be repaired?

I believe this is fixed in 2.0.4.13, at least mine has stopped doing this clicky noise.

Update: After making a picture with an Android application the clicky noise appears again.
