When the screen of Jolla C is off, it sometimes keeps making a ticking sound with irregular intervals. Sample

It doesn't bother too much, expect maybe when trying to sleep and the phone is in the same room.

I'm guessing it is a hardware problem, and if so, I'm posting this so that Jolla may inform Intex about the possible speaker problems (assuming the similarity of hardware).

For me it seems, the sound comes from the upper area near the camera. I thought it could be from the cooling down of the device after usage (i.e. the heatsink or something).

I don't have that problem so far. Interesting.

@Acce - which SailfishOS version is your Jolla C running?, just curious!

I discovered the ticking sound is 100% reproducable when having a ssh session (over wifi) to my phone. every time I stop typing in the session, half a second later a tick is heard.

I have the same problem on intex aqua fish 2.0.4.14. But 'Im not sure, if it is only the camera (autofocus off). Sometimes I think the speaker 'blobs'' and not the camera. Another strange behaviour: when writing text in sailorgram there is a low hissing on the speaker, which gets louder, if I turn up the sounds. Think it's related to alsa/pulseaudio or whatever sfos is using.

exactly the same symptoms my aquafish has, sometimes it seems to be the camera, sometimes the speaker and the very low level noise when writing in instagram (or right now as i'm tapping here)

Maybe some "GSM" sound like it is mentioned in the other thread...

I have both sounds... and this is definitely not the GSM sound mentioned here :)

Which thread? could you put the reference where it was mentioned, please? Can't find separate theme about it, also. I have GSM buzz (you can here this sound if you put some other phone near to the loudspeaker) and it looks like a hardware issue. Maybe we need separate theme for it.

I got an uneven ticking for the first time today when I turned the screen off. I stopped it by closing maep maps. Turning location off also stops it.

I just got it and my phone was just sitting there. I haven't used my camera since last start up.

Maybe the phone is trying to take pictures and if it not able to focus correctly it makes that sound. Strange bug ;).

I can produce the ticking if I open any app the access the camera (e.g. Codereader). After putting the phone in sleep it starts ticking. For me it looks like the sound is from the main camera, trying to focus. On my phone it seems that this ticking is in dependent from wifi or not.

I found an additional process to get the phone ticking. After having used the torch, and then setting the phone into sleep mode it immediately starts ticking. After rebooting the phone the ticking disappears until I use camera or torch.

After update to Haapajoki the ticking changed on my device to only one tick after switching off the display when torch or camera app has been used. (This is independent on focus set in the camera app.) The tick occur 10 to 20 sec after the display switched off. This tick is repeated every time the display has been waked up and switched off again.

So it looks only slightly better than before the update.

The workarounds are not working, any official statement? (2.0.5.6) Today i was in a call and it started ticking, the other person heard it too, phone unusable to actually call somebody.
