Hello again dear community!

Even though we are still stabilising the 2.1.2 Sailfish OS update, our R&D team has already implemented all the new features for 2.1.3, that are in need of your brilliant language skills pouring into Pootle until Wednesday evening (27th September 2017, for the official languages). Click here and let's get started! This time there are only 16 new strings to be localised.

Thank you all for your continued help with our translations!

Regards,

Jarkko

And done.

Maybe it is time to start thinking about adding Czech as an official language? ;-) It is a bit unsatisfactory to translate the strings every release and never see them on the device.

@sledges he has a point. Would you consider making languages that get their translations completed in time official??

@ApB My point of view is that most of people only need one or two language(s) and input method(s), why should I have to install all of them that I never need?
My suggestion is putting all the languages and input methods to the jolla store, people could choose what they really need all the time.

@hanhsuan Exactly my opinion. Include only English with the OS, make the rest available as installable packages. 99% of Sailfish users have no need for 99% of these L10n packages.

bocephus ( 2017-09-21 11:24:05 +0300 )edit

At 160 kB each, they're hardly a burden, but I agree they would be best off being available on the Jolla store, getting automatically installed whenever the user selects them. In fact, it's even worse than @nodevel said, because not only do the fully completed community translations not end up on the devices of those who would be interested (unless they already know these translations exist and want to install them through OpenRepos), but the 'official languages' are usually not even fully translated!

nthn ( 2017-09-22 17:16:11 +0300 )edit

@nthn Yes, the size may be not a problem, but the list is. I am the lucky one who uses Traditional Chinese that will always show on the top of the list, but others not. If I would like to change to English, I have to search where is it in such kind of big list.
By the way, I thought the unfully translated is not the problem that belongs to translator.
For example, I have translated "connected" for a long time and works before updating to 2.1.2.
While I found this problem, I have checked the offical translation website, but nothig changed that has to translate again.

Hello again!

There's one added string in jolla-camera: jolla-camera-la-microphone_disallowed_by_policy . It was just added in the translation tool. Please translate it as well.

Thank you!

Jarkko

Looks like "someone" has to be the Translation coordinator for German (ejjoman), as non of these functions (accept / reject) is accessible for me as a simple translator. Suggestions for all German strings are complete, though.

Hello again dear Community members,

Thank you for the translations for the 2.1.3 release! We would need your help with just 1 more piece of the text, but it is not available in the translation tool. Instead please do the translation by answering to this message. The text is:

"Using our Software in violation of any export control law or regulation."

And it's shown under this text as one of the bullets:

" License restrictions. You are expressly prohibited from doing any of the following acts:"

This text is shown when starting the device for the first time.

We would need the translation for these languages by the end of today, if possible:

Chinese (China) Chinese (Hong Kong) Danish Finnish French German Italian Norwegian Polish Portuguese Russian Spanish Swedish

Thank you once again! And if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Regards,

Jarkko

I am curious, what kind of situation that people who use software will break a export control law or regulation?

hanhsuan ( 2017-10-09 09:35:01 +0300 )edit

Hi, I am not sure about the contents of the text, but it is a part of some legal texts you can see on the device.
