Everyone, if you are using Mitakuuluu, stop using it immediately. Whatsapp has started blocking numbers of people that are using it.

I've never had a Facebook account but that, and Whatsapp, is what I would have opted out if I did... If what you say is true.

Somee accs were blocked due to protocol changes and not because of 'using an unofficial client'. So stop to scare the users pls.

Whatsapp does infact mention in their FAQ that using unofficial clients is not accepted. That the protocol differences were triggering alerts is another thing entirely. It's even possible they've added some quirks to the protocol to catch unofficial clients too.

Has anyone who has paid to use WhatsApp been banned? I was previously under the impression that regardless of minor irregularities on client side, if you were on a paying account, their policy was don't-care. If paying accounts were blocked ... there may have been a recent change in policy. I was on the 'bad' iteration of Mitakuuluu when others were being banned, and I wasn't banned, and have a paid account.

I'm still using Mitakuuluu. I have not faced any issues till date. Even the Android app is also working.

well the discussion how it is shaping, really do no belongs here. Users are getting blocked for real, even on latest update too. I was one of them. I got the reply from support that i was using unofficial client and thats why i was blocked. So it's better to stop using client and follow proceeding on app page. To know how to recover blocked account and further discussions, it is better to ask on developer's issue page on github, this is not the right place. https://github.com/CODeRUS/mitakuuluu2/issues/278

Did you get blocked after sending an uncompressed picture ? Official client compress all files before sending. Mitakuuluu by default not.

Response from WhatsApp for my email:

It appears that you are using an unauthorized client. Unauthorized clients contain source code which WhatsApp can not guarantee as safe. Your private information is potentially being passed to 3rd parties while you are using an unauthorized client and we do not support unauthorized clients. In addition unauthorized clients may not function correctly and may cease to work at any given time.

Please uninstall your client and install an authorized version from:

www.whatsapp.com/download

Please also note that you must be using WhatsApp on a smartphone. Non-telephony devices including tablets are not supported.

After installing the authorized version, please contact support again with a screenshot from inside the app. Responses to this email will not be read.

... well there is only one thing we can do now. take apart their client after each of their updates and make mitakulu indistinguishable to the official whatsapp client sans anything that is fishy of course.

I know.. and it goes even more ridiculous when i got a reply for the screen shot.. "Sorry, Jolla is not a supported device for WhatsApp Messenger. We have no further information to give out at this time."

Well if I can't get the information from support who should i contact..

Just send them some screenshots too. Wonder if they will unblock me now. Never thought I would say this, but I really am starting to miss those useless video's and pictures my brother used to send me over WA...

Did anyone manage to get his account unblocked? Whatsapp hasn't been answering my emails sent from the Android client so far, it's getting quite worrying.

I did not. You'll probably need real Android phone / tablet and after that send the support request from inside the WhatsApp application. I think Alien Dalvik is not enough "real" Android for WhatsApp.

I just got my whatsapp ban removed today. I downloaded official version from www.whatsapp.com/download and then sent a new request from that version including a screenshot. The response looked like this:

Hi,

Your WhatsApp account was banned because you violated our Terms of Services and were using an unauthorized application and/or unsupported device. At this time we have decided under our own discretion, to unban your account. We appreciate you downloading the official application and using a supported device.

Should we determine that your actions continue to violate our Terms of Service, your account will again be banned. There will be no possibility of an appeal.

I got UnBanned last night. You guys using now which app on your Jolla? official one or the unofficial one? Have not dared to start using one or the other till I know for sure which one to use and not get banned, again.

yes, this info is passé now. the developer has posted the update and described what was wrong. But the new update is laggy, so for now, avoid using Mitakuuluu, and stick.to android version .

Latest Mitäkuuluu just works fine. I wasn't banned on the old one and I'm still using the new one. Also the laginess started with Update9, not with latest Mitäkuuluu version.

There are a number of people who have been banned on the latest version as well. I was on the latest when I got banned.

@JuhaP I deleted facebook 2 years ago. Now im going to write everybody on whatsapp that i will be using threema and 'delete' the whatsapp account.

I'm using paid subscription of Whatsapp (for a few years time) and so far no ban. I'll just keep using it and if they were to ban me, then it's time to search for an alternative.
