What features do you desperately need?

This is a list of missing features that we desperately need, sorted by votes. Feel free to add more, but only with a proper link to a question, so we can also vote on specific questions.

The Jolla crew uses the tag roadmap to show requested features forming part of a defined plan. There is also a general roadmap and a development roadmap.

Note: The numbers in parantheses {xxx} at the front are the votes each question had collected. If it has an -R after the number it indicates the roadmap tag is present, a -r? indicates the Jolla crew responded positively to the question but the roadmap tag is not present.

EDIT: Automatically updating list here, and the features tracked by Jolla here. As we already have these options via search, there's no need to update the list below. Return to default view here, or manually by removing the filter(s) and sorting questions by activity instead of votes.

EDIT2: There's a similar way to do that for bugs. Requested fixes here, those under work here

EDIT3: Just for fun, here's a list of bug requests ;) (let's work together to remove either of the tags on these)

SailFishOS/Firmware updates that don't require the user to open a Jolla account.

  1. Less restrictions for harbour-apps
  2. Better user control over apps access to hardware/data
  3. More API documentation, so things that aren't done by Jolla can be done by others, together with 1, several points on the list could be done by the community.

The app closing sound should also be triggered when closing an app by swiping from top edge. https://together.jolla.com/question/6769/closing-app-sound-always-on-no-matter-how-the-app-is-closed/

This requires more complete certificate support first. This is also normally implmented via EMM/MDM (API requirement). Rarely for one individual device.

I don't see VPN in your list. One of the top voted with 368 Votes today https://together.jolla.com/question/305/vpn-client/

I think open-vpn is on the roadmap - but as this is only one of the needed options - as for example pptp is widely spread in business networks. Should have a much higher priority than stuff like a weather app ;) - my 4cents

This is very niche and should be done by some third-party app. Especially since it only actually provides a service for business third-party apps.

How is VPN more niche than GPG or SIP integration (both are on the list and imho both are important)? And since VPN is ranked 6th in the list it is definitely not a niche feature since it is requested by quite a lot of people. And there are a lot of use cases besides business. A third party intergration might be ok, but I think that this is a feature which works best if it's fully integrated in the OS.

@kaktux: This is a wiki post. So if you think VPN should go on the list, you have enough karma points to add it...

In this case I added it because VPN is a feature I crave to.

Even that this has become a highly voted and >90 answers wiki, I question if it's needed at all: We can already sort all features by vote rates with two clicks, simply by selecting tag feature-request and sorting the results by votes, giving us this view:

So all the items in the list should already have their own question. And new questions for new requestes are added to the list. So this list is a list of all the feature requests, giving a fast overview of what is wanted and how much it is wanted. It pretty much does the same as @simo suggest, but that requires that all feature requests are correctly tagged, but further misses the overview of which questions that are marked r or R for indicating possible roadmapping.

On the front page, there is a "Tracked Questions" section in the sidebar - sounds like having additional "On roadmap" and "Pre-roadmap" options would perhaps be better than using tags.. but can the community add and/or change these?

i would really like to see the true power and potential of the ambiences and toh. i would like to haveTOHs for different situations and they should have the ability to set the whole phone like i want. for example if i go to work i put my keira black and that means i am in work mode, so: facebook and sportsites are invisible. if i am at home i can put for example the angry birds and that means all my notes and office apps are invisible instead of game apps so i can give my jolla to my nephews to play with if without being scared the could erase my work. if i go to the stadium i put my custom made (or officially branded) TOH of my club the i have access to sport dites, livescore apps, club pages, and of cource ambiences. i just want to have the power to set and control more from the toh and ambience and not just change tge background picture and ringtone. i want to activate my "theatre" ambience and my jolla gets in flymode or silenced, diverts calls, puts contrast on lowest and so on and on and on. something like the sutuations app. the developer if this app had already such an idea but as i quote: plug ins are on backlog, but not sure what can be donewutb the avaliable apis. i think after reorganising the Jolla company hat should ve the nextthing to do - grand access to the developers to step in.

I also had a dream that was the night after jolla day when the phone was released and they showed this magic box of many TOHs. come on jolla - this device is about two years old already. what are you waiting for? UNLEASH TOH AND AMBIENCE!!!

Can we add also hardware? Since it's getting slowly critial here in the forum: Spare-Parts: Batteries.

This is an easy thing to provide in the Jolla shop and almost everyone could profit from it. If possible a battery with higher capacity would be even better. It's time for it !

Hello i suggest an intelligent personal assistant.
As Alternative to Apple Siri, there is Sirius.
seems to be a good one i think. And is opensource:
